Cooking up success with TN’s Catering Service

Happy Easter from Tioung Nonma!

After a lovely Easter bank holiday weekend, the Tigoung Nonma team have been very busy in their second week on placement. Alongside meetings, emailing potential UK partners, research, working on the inventory and leaflet production, the team also spent Wednesday assisting the TN catering service in delivering a coffee and lunch break at a conference held by the National Federation of Artisans in Burkina Faso (FENABF). The subject of the conference was the organisation of this year’s SIAO festival, a huge, pan-African arts festival which attracts visitors from all over the world.

The Tigoung Nonma catering service (Service Traiteur) was launched in 2009 as an income-generating activity for members of TN. It supports women with disabilities, some of whom are also artisans.

Esther, Roxy and Clementine were hard at work providing drinks during the coffee break, whilst back at base, Jean helped the rest of the catering service with some serious chicken-cooking! Esther, Emily and Clementine then delivered lunch, serving up a tasty meal of chicken, fried potato, plantain and salad. Although the UKVs struggled slightly with drinks orders, it was an enjoyable day for all involved, and a great challenge for our French.

The food received a very good reception, with many people at the event thanking the team for their hard work. The success of the service provided was evident when TN received a second order to provide food on Friday, prompting another day of cooking and preparation (and delicious smells in the office!)

We hope that these events will boost awareness of our wonderful catering service: if anyone in or around Ouagadougou would like us to provide food and drink for your event, please get in touch!

  2. Tasty food's taste can be fade away if the arrangement for taking food is not comfortable.I had faced this sort of case during the celebration for my new apartment. So I will advise you all at least to make furniture hire if you are throwing party.

  3. Looks yummy! Certainly looks a lot better than Kroger catering, I must admit. Can't beat Kroger's prices though!
